Four people lost their lives as 16 others sustained injuries after the vehicles they were travelling in was involved in an accident along Murang'a-Kenol road.
The accident that happened at Maragwa bridge involved a 14 seater Matatu and a lorry.
Murang'a county police commander Josphat Kinyua confirmed the Tuesday evening accident.
He told the press that the accident happened after the loory driver lost control of the vehicle this ending on the wrong lane.
Due to that the lorry and the matatu collided head on killing one person on the spot.
The police boss said that the three others succumbed to injuries while they were being rushed to the hospital for treatment.
He noted that out of the 16 being treated three of them are in critical condition.
He confirmed investigations into the incident have begun.
The vehicles which were involved in the accident were towed to Maragwa police station for inspection.
The Matatu is said to have been heading to Murang'a from Nairobi while the lorry headed to the opposite direction before the tragedy struck.
