Ichung’wa said Raila's statement is not in the spirit of unity and reconciliation that he agreed on with President Uhuru Kenyatta during the famous March 9 handshake.

Speaking to journalists at Prayers Beyond Boundaries Church in Nairobi on Sunday, the Jubilee MP said that the former Prime Minister comments could delay and hinder the push for reconciliation in the country.

He said that this is not the time to argue about who won or did not win in 2017, adding that unity is what matters most.

“Raila’s recent comments are uncalled for and he should focus on making the building bridges initiative work as opposed to opening old wounds,” he said.

The MP asked Raila to accept the outcome of last year’s general elections and move on.

Over the weekend, Raila said that the Supreme Court vindicated him when it nullified President Kenyatta's win in the August 8 polls. He further hit out at Deputy President William Ruto who had earlier said that Raila should accept defeat and accept that Jubilee won during the 2017 polls.

“He claims that we were undemocratic because we did not accept defeat. How do you expect us to concede defeat in a contest we did not participate in?” asked Raila in response to Ruto's remarks.
