Kenya has scoped the top position in the recent World Giving Index report.
The country has been named the top generous among African countries and 11th across the whole world.
”In Kenya, more than half of people donated money to charity,” the report said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
It also emerged that the country improved on their charitable behaviour from the last time such a survey was conducted.
The study done by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) looks at how people behave when it comes to giving at charitable organizations. Their kindness and generosity play a major role in ranking.
The study was done in 128 countries with 1.3 million people being involved.
Kenya is the only country among the top 20 generous countries in the world from Africa. The next countries were Nigeria and Zambia, who took positions 22 and 52 respectively.
Various people have congratulated Kenya on its position as the top generous country in Africa.
The United States Embassy based in Nairobi said in a tweet; "Congratulations (Hongera) Kenya for being the most generous country in Africa! Kenya is moving forward as a benefactor rather than a beneficiary."
The United States was ranked as the most generous country in the world.
