The youthful senator was on Tuesday arrested and detained by sleuths following a controversial video of him issuing statements believed to be inflammatory.

In his speech, Cherargei had warned opponents of Deputy President William Ruto, preempting that they will face unspecified consequences in 2022.

"Let me finish by saying, those people who have continued to fight DP William Ruto, we are profiling you. When you are fighting the deputy president, you are fighting us.

"Don't think that the DP does not have his supporters. We see here. Continue abusing him but know that we are marking and profiling you. When that time comes, we shall deal with you. He also have his people, don't joke," he said.

But Sang, who showed up in solidarity with Cherargei, suspected witch-hunt in the arrest, adding that the manner in which he was hounded out of his house was suspicious.

And the county boss, who also served in the region as Senator, further urged DCI to also take swift actions against other leaders who incite the public.

"We appeal to investigative agencies, especially DCI and NCIC, to be impartial as they handle issues relating to inflammatory remarks made by political leaders. I personally do not support remarks by my friend and Senator Kiprotich Cherargei.

"However, as we laud DCI for their swift action, I urge investigative agencies to act with the same supersonic speed in regard to inflammatory statements made by other political leaders in the country. I also want to urge my colleague leaders to be cautious and avoid making statements which could spark animosity," he added.

In June, Sang was also arrested and detained in Kisumu Central Police Station following claims that he invaded a piece of land despite being private. He however insisted that it was public.
