Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Philip Etale has questioned the suspicious sudden outbreaks of fires in Kibra constituency.
The latest fire razed several homes of residents of Makina Sub Location within the constituency on Wednesday evening, which he says is suspicious, as such have not been seen lately.
In a tweet Sunday, he found it suspicious that the fires are only back now that campaigns for the vacant Kibra by elections have kocked off, suspecting some underhand games.
He insinuated that the fires might be related to the campaigns, and are being used by some persons as a way of penetrating into the hearts of locals by being seen to help.
"For a long time there had not been fires in Kibra. All of a sudden, they have started. The people of Kibra don’t need sympathy, they need a leader who will help them. A leader born and bred in Kibra who understands their problems and what they go through," he wrote.
The three major candidates in the race, including ODM's Imran Okoth have been seen visiting the area with iron sheets donations to help the affected reconstruct their homes.
Amani National Congress (ANC) aspirant Eliud Owalo and Jubilee's McDonald Mariga have also offered similar assistance to the affected residents.
