In a video shared on Nairobi Gossip Club, one of the MCSK managers explained in details why many Kenyan artists are missing out of the royalty payout and why some get peanuts.

"I have my product, I need to take it to the supermarket that is called MCSK for them to be able to put it on a shelve for it to be monitored for me to get royalties. But if you don’t do that, number one you will miss out on royalty. I know of so many artists, I will give you a very good example maybe he might be one of the people who might have complained," explained on of the MCSK managers.

Khaligraph Jones if you go to the system the first CD that he actually brought to MCSK was what is being monitored right. But later on he has produced over five albums. But he has not made a point of him coming to MCSK and update those works so that he can actually earn them," he said

Khaligraph Jones started this debate when he got paid Sh2,530 as his royalties.

He shared a screenshot of the Mpesa transaction and warned MCSK about monitoring his music.

Other top artists including controversial gospel artist Willy Paul joined into condemned MCSK for paying the peanuts.

Many came out to share screenshots of what they received as their royalties.
