Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny could not hide his joy in what he referred to as statesmanship in ODM leader Raila Odinga, who toured Elgeyo-Marakwet County on Sunday.
At Chebara Primary School, Mr Kutuny, a Jubilee MP, lauded Mr Odinga's decision to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that the move has stabilised the country.
The second term MP who has been at loggerheads with DP William Ruto, added that it's impossible for someone to run government without Mr Odinga's input.
According to the former presidential advisor, he helped broker a deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga in March 2018.
“He saw the country as bigger than his personal political ambition and entered a pact with the President, which calmed political tension. Those opposed to the handshake are enemies of peace,” said Mr Kutuny, who claimed he helped broker the deal.
“You cannot afford to ignore Raila by eating while he is outside," he added is his local dialect.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed hit out Jubilee leaders for engaging in succession politics despite President Kenyatta's warning.
“I sympathise with people from this region who are still suffering yet their leaders claim to be in government. I have seen that we have the same problems yet we have been in the opposition for a long time,” he said.
Mr Kutuny has been pushing for changing of the constitution, arguing that the current set-up cannot promote peace among Kenyans.
