Former presidential candidate Mohammed Abduba Dida has downplayed the hype over the release of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Dida said he did not expect the report to have new features not contained in the 2010 Constitution and appeared to argue that it would be a waste of time to debate the document which will be released on Tuesday.
"About BBI report, what can it probably suggest that is not already in the current constitution? Should we waste more time reading and discussing issues that we shouldn't even think about in the first place? Same old tactic, blame the system them replace it," he tweeted on Sunday night.
The Alliance for Real Change party leader said it would be meaningless for the BBI to recommend new laws and rules since they risked not be implemented like others before them.
"If your friends are thieves, changing the rules won't help them. You need to accept that you are surrounded by criminal and get them locked up. You will lose a friend but save a lot. We must make tough choices unless we are all compromised," Dida added.
The BBI report will be made public on Tuesday after it is handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
On Wednesday, there will be a public launch of the document at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi that will be led by the handshake principals.
