Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has hinted that he might have to handle some of the county operations like the demolition of illegal buildings by himself.
Addressing locals in Kakamega Town on Friday, the county boss said that he has lost confidence in the officers, and will not he delegating any duties to them going forward.
He said that some of the county staff are actually involved in wrongdoings, claiming that some are the owners of kiosks which were demolished by the county on Friday.
The governor who supervised the demolitions lost his cool, rebuking his chief officers, county ministers and the town manager in public, saying that he has lost confidence in them.
“Even those who are standing right behind me are not worth of my trust. I have decided to handle everything personally,” he said when he addressed a crowd at Sufi Road.
He said that his staff who own the kiosks have rented them to other persons, and also ordered the closure of an eatery at Masinde Muliro over its unhygienic state.
He also ordered the reconstruction of the World Bank funded projects in the town, saying that the infrastructure is not coming up in the required manner.
