Orange Democratic Movement party chairman John Mbadi has said that Deputy President William Ruto's presidential ambition is a non-issue when it comes to constitutional amendments.
Speaking during an interview on NTV on Tuesday, Mbadi said that he has told the DP on several occasions that he should not make his dream of rising to power to appear like a national crisis at the end of the day. He also said that Ruto can or cannot be a president in the long run.
"I have told the deputy president a number of times, that him not being president isn’t a national crisis and he shouldn't make it one," he said.
The lawmaker noted that what will happen to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga after 2022 should also not be of great concern. The legislator opined that the amendments are meant to assist the country for more than 100 years down the line.
Mbadi added: " Where Uhuru is going is not a national crisis, where Raila Odinga is going to is not a national crisis let us create positions for posterity in fact when you read this report they are saying they are doing a report which Kenyans are comfortable with for 100 years. They are doing a report for a children and our children's children. Whoever is going to get into these positions is neither..."
