Funyula Member of Parliament Wilberforce Oundo has bashed a section of Western Kenya leaders who have expressed support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Maisha on Tuesday, the MP said that the DP has not done anything worth being supported for by the region, claiming that he has been fooling Kenyans and area voters.
He laughed off the projects Ruto has been launching in the region almost on a weekly basis, claiming that most are being reused for his political purposes.
Oundo alleged that the DP has been relaunching the same projects and development initiatives in a bid to appeal to residents.
"Ruto has done nothing for Western Kenya leaders despite his many trips to the region. Even the projects he has been purporting to launch have been launched and launched again. Nothing happens after the launches," he said.
He noted that the same has been the case with the group of area politicians that has been flanging the DP on most occasions.
He disclosed that some have personally opened up to him that they are with the DP solely for personal interests.
The lawmaker claimed that some are also fooling the DP and are only supporting him because of his deep pockets and willingness to give.
"The people following him have told me that they are only playing politics. He had also been giving handouts," alleged Oundo who is allied to the opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
He claimed that Ruto has gone as far as launching stalled projects, some dating back to retired President Mwai Kibaki's reign.
