Always check your urine colour to confirm whether you are in good shape or not. Different urine colour has a different meaning.
This is what your urine colour says about your health:
1. Dark-coloured yellow urine
This is a sign that you are not having enough water.
"If you're dehydrated and you are holding onto more of the actual water itself, the urine will become darker and darker," says Dr Palese, a site chair in the department of urology at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
Additionally, other reasons why your urine has a deep yellow colour include muscle cramps, bad breath, chills sugar craving and fatigue.
2. Dark-brown urine
This colour in urine has been linked to a malfunctioning liver.
"If someone has a poor liver function, that can manifest itself in dark yellow or brown urine," says Dr Palese.
It is also claimed that dark brown urine is a sign of progression of melanoma cancer.
"If [melanoma patients'] urine turns brown, it may indicate the presence of melanin, which is associated with progression of the cancer," explains Dr. Novakovic, a urologist with NorthShore University HealthSystem in Chicago.
3. Red or pink urine
This is another sign you should never give a hoot. Red urine is a sign of blood in your urine.
Dr Palese recommends you see a doctor as soon as possible.
"Blood in urine should always be worked up, and definitely [requires] seeing a physician," says Dr Palese.
