Uasin Gishu County government on Monday launched the County Educational Tour 2020 in all the 30 wards.

According to Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, the tour is meant to sensitize young people who have  completed Form Four on the importance of joining technical institutions.

"Our aim is to ensure that students enroll in technical institutions for them to be impacted with skills and knowledge that will help them employ themselves," he said.

He reiterated that they are also banking on the opportunities in technical training  programme being rolled out by the National government .

Mandago  who spoke to the press at St Peter's Catholic Church Kuinet during the launch of the Uasin Gishu County Educational Tour 2020 on Monday said they will ensure that students who did not manage to go to universities gt a place in technical institutions.

"We want the young people to take advantage of the National government policy of ensuring those who have completed form  four join technical institutions through paying bursary of Sh 30,000 and also giving them and opportunity to apply for Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) loans," added governor Mandago.

The county boss also pointed out that recent research by Rift Valley Technical Training institute (RVTTI) showed that graduates from technical institutions have 82% of being employed within two years of graduation while degree graduates have only a 46% chance of being employed.
