Ebru TV on Wednesday released a press statement explaining why they were forced to send off fast-rising comedian Kartelo.
This comes shortly after Chipukeezy indicated that he was left with no other option but to resign from Ebru TV after the station asked him to cut his association with Kartelo.
According to the statement, Kartelo was given an assignment by Ebru TV to popularize the nationwide census since he had become influential on social media.
The TV station clarified through the statement that Kartelo was not an official employee and the assignment was only a contract which he signed but failed to deliver as agreed.
Ebru TV went ahead to explain that Kartelo shot videos on August 20 at Ebru TV but did not share them on his social media plartforms as per the agreement.
"As part of the census campaign, we asked our in-house influencers to push the census campaign for us on social media. Seeing that Kartelo had built an audience, we contracted him to do at a fee which he agreed to and signed a contract to which he was paid."
"On 20th of August, Kartelo shot videos which were done at Ebru. We gave him the videos to post on his social media pages, this was not done to satisfaction. Hence the email that was sent on Thursday 22nd of August 2019 to Chipukeezy," part of the statement read.
