The DP has been attacking Raila lately for allegedly 'misusing' his truce with Uhuru and their Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) offspring, accusing him of using clever methods to shake the ruling Jubilee Party from within.

Gedi who is a member of Jubilee Party, now says that Ruto sees Raila as a threat to his 2022 presidential ambitions, and is, therefore, looking for excuses to portray him in a bad light.

"Ruto thinks that with Raila close to Uhuru, he will endear himself to the president and block him from being president in 2022 (Vile Ruto ameona Raila amekuja karibu na Uhuru ameona kwisha, anaona Raila atajipendekeza amzuie kuwa rais 2022)," she said on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Monday morning.

Political analyst Dennis Anyonka, who also attended the interview said Ruto is still the man to watch should he maintain his current vigour.

He said that judging by the vigour he used in a bid to clinch the Kibra seat through McDonald Mariga, the DP might cause an upset in the 2022 presidential race.

"If he will come with the same vigour in 2022, he will not be somebody to be written off. Of he will use the same force and similar resources (Kama atakuja na the same vigour in 2022, he will not be somebody to be written off, kama atatumia the same force and similar resources)," said the commentator.

However, Raila and Uhuru have assured the nation that their union is solely about uniting and healing the nation, and has no political dimensions.
