Collymore, 61, died on Monday at his Kitusuru home in Nairobi after a long battle with cancer.

In his message of condolence, Raila eulogised the former giant telco boss as a dedicated person, who made Kenya rise above other African countries in terms of communication.

"My condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr Bob Collymore as well as the entire Safaricom fraternity. Bob served our country with dedication and sustained us as a communication hub in Africa. May his soul rest in eternal peace," Raila tweeted

However, the message attracted the wrath of Miguna, who accused Raila of hypocrisy for praising Collymore after death, whereas he had repeatedly accused him of helping Jubilee rig the 2017 elections.

"The People's Con-Man Raila Odinga is worse than a hypocrite. He constantly told the world after the August 8, 2017, fraudulent election that Bob Collymore and others had used Safaricom to help Uhuru Kenyatta steal the elections. Now, the cowardly liar calls Collymore "great?" he wrote on Twitter, Monday.

The firebrand lawyer was referring to allegations by Raila, who was the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer, that Safaricom colluded with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and OT-Morpho to rig the election in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta by allowing transmission of cooked up figures.

“Safaricom allowed this illegality to go on and did not even care to report the various illegal activities of these Kiems kits. This collusion between Safaricom, IEBC and Safran remains intact and the firm is set to do the same thing it did in August,” he said at the time the country was preparing to head for the repeat election which was held on October 26, 2017.

After the repeat polls, Raila asked his supporters to boycott Safaricom services for allegedly helping Jubilee administration retain power.

Other companies whose products were also boycotted included Haco Industries, Brookside Diaries and Bidco.

The ODM boss called off the boycott during the May 1, 2018, Labour Day Celebrations following his handshake with Uhuru.
