A passenger died on Tuesday in Kakamega after a conductor pushed him from a moving matatu.
The matatu conductor, Livingston Indimuli, is said to have disagreed with the passenger over the matatu fare before he pushed him from the speeding vehicle.
The passenger died on the spot after hitting his head on the tarmac road.
Mr Indimuli and the vehicle driver Simon Oteng work for the Western Shuttles Sacco.
Confirming the incident, Kakamega OCPD David Kabena noted that the duo is being held at the Kakamega Police Post as investigations into the incident continue.
The incident occurred on the busy Kakamega-Kisumu highway a few meters from the Kakamega Police Station.
The deceased, who is yet to be identified was taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue.
This is not the first time a person is losing their life after being pushed from a moving vehicle by a conductor.
In July, 2019, a 28-year-old woman died after she was pushed from a moving vehicle in Nairobi.
The woman who was identified as Florence Wanjiru, died while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital three days after the incident.
The licences of the driver and tout were revoked by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
