Itchy skin can be uncomfortable especially after taking a shower. This could be as a result of the skin drying up due to reduced skin's natural oils or allergic reactions due to the products used and also due to skin inflammation.
If your skin persists in becoming itchy every time you take a bath, consider the following tips;
1. Apply moisturizer while the skin is still wet
This will reduce the chances of your skin running dry and becoming itchy. It helps to lock up more moisture in your skin keeping it more supple and healthy.
2. Take shorter showers that aren't too hot
The longer you wash your skin, the more the skin natural oils you remove hence increasing the chances of having itchy skin. Hot showers also wash away most of the skin oils causing skin irritations.
Using lukewarm water and taking short periods in shower reduces irritations and maintains a healthy skin.
3. Avoid wiping off the skin
Once you take a shower, avoid wiping every water droplet on your skin rather pat your skin with your towel. This comfortably dried the skin without causing irritations as a result of roughly wiping the water off.
4. Stay hydrated
To have healthy skin, it is advisable to remain hydrated throughout the day. Doctors recommend at least eight glasses of water in a day.
5. Switch your soaps
The kind of soaps you use could be causing the itchiness in your skin. Choose those products that contain natural ingredients and avoid using those which contain alcohol or any scented ingredients.
