The former Meru County legislator said the commission has received numerous complaints from aggrieved individuals who said that they had been duped by county officials.

Her statement came after Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was forced to return title deeds he fraudulently acquired from a widow after the intervention of the Commission on Administrative Justice.

"This (Waititu’s) is not an isolated case. We are investigating several such complaints, which have been filed by aggrieved people from different counties. They are at different stages and we will ensure they get justice, " Florence Kajuju said in an exclusive interview with the People Daily newspaper.

The launch of the investigations have blown the lid on the extortion webs operating in the counties whose members are officials of county administrations.

Kajuju urged those who had fallen prey to the extortion ring whose tentacles spread far and wide and had not reported to the commission to do so so that their complaints can be investigated.

She said that the county officials were slapping owners of land intending to invest with impossible demands.

"The county will place many hurdles or even reject the application and then they will approach you with some demands. They might ask for cash whose amount depends on the cost of the project, they might ask for land, a number of units if it is an apartment or gated community estate, " one of the individuals who fell prey to the corrupt antics of the county officials told the People Daily.
