As Christians celebrated Easter in Nakuru, those who were found drunk and driving in Nakuru Town on Sunday spent their night in the cell as NTSA intensified its crackdown to ensure safety on the road.

A team of NTSA reinforcement officers led by Titus Koech together with the traffic officers attached to Central police station, had a had time dealing with some of the drivers who noticed their presence ahead.

Some motorists tried to escape the crackdown, only to end up causing accidents.

Speaking after the crackdown along the Nakuru-Nairobi, Nakuru Edoret highway, Mr Koech called on the drivers to corporate with officers as their “intention is to bring sanity on the roads but not to punish” them.

A total of 16 drivers were driving while drunk and arrested in the two days operation, but later released on cash bail as they wait to appear before a court of law this week.
