Last year a total of 26 students benefitted from the programme with both Malaba and Busia branches of the bank picking 13 students each.The bank sponsored the largest number of students in 2015 with each of the two branches getting 20 slots. The successful students in 2018 scholarship programme were flagged off by Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi.Equity bank Busia branch Manager Oscar Masinde said although they received a huge number of applications, the most deserving pupils were selected to join the programme.He said the beneficiaries would undergo a three day induction and training in Nairobi before the official commissioning of the program on January 4, 2018.Masinde said successful students had been awarded comprehensive secondary school scholarships following their exemplary performance in the 2017 KCPE exams.The deputy governor thanked Equity Bank and MasterCard Foundation for the sponsorship and told the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of Busia County.
