Being a dad of teens is one of the hardest things when it comes to parenting. It is hard because a slight misunderstanding with a teenager will likely result in unintended conflicts.
In order to understand your teenage children better as a dad, here are some of the important things that you need to do;
1. Know how important their friends are to them
People grow strong when they have supportive friends around them. In that case, as a dad, you need to know and appreciate your teenage child friends. It is through them, that whenever your child is going through things that he or she cannot tell you, they are always there for him or her.
2. Manage their usage of phone
Nearly every teen in the current generation has a phone. Despite it being a good thing in everyone’s life, you need to manage your teen’s phone as a dad. Most of the teenagers lose their good ways because of doing inappropriate things with their phones. Therefore, just to be a caring dad, always monitor how your teen child uses his or her phone.
3. Be your teen’s friend while still a dad
It is clear that you are the dad and you don’t need to act so serious about it. You also need to get close with your teen child as a friend, so that he or she can feel free to open up to you whenever he or she is going through rough moments.
