Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Boss Shollei has said that Kirinyaga county is solidly behind Deputy President William Ruto.
In a tweet, Shollei said that the huge crowd the second in command pulled during his tour in the region is a clear indicator that he is a force to reckon with.
The lawmaker said that Ruto cannot be underestimated in the race for power if the numbers she saw at the rally are anything to go by.
“Accompanied the @WilliamsRuto to a fundraiser at Baricho Catholic Church Kirinyaga. I was pleased to learn, see and feel that the people of Kirinyaga County are solidly behind Him,” she tweeted.
Kirinyaga’s incumbent Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru has, however, hinted that the region will back ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga.
“If it is Raila, he should know that the region will want a piece of his government,” Waiguru said in an exclusive interview on KTN News’ PointBlank two weeks ago.
Waiguru, a former minister in charge of Devolution, Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, said that the region has no problem with the Former Prime Minister as the succession politics continue to take shape. Ruto is banking on the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta to win the seat.
