The family of Emmanuel Kemboi who drowned in Kipakaren River in Eldoret town on Tuesday last week wants the government to help in retrieving the body of the deceased.
According to Priscilla Sulo the aunt to the deceased, Kemboi drowned last week and recovery efforts have borne no fruits.
“It has been eight days of agony as a family and today we want to ask the government to intervene and help us; he same government that assisted the family in Likoni can help us retrieve the body of Emmanuel,” said Sulo.
She reiterated that so far, they have used local divers but they have not retrieved his body yet.
She spoke to the press at the banks of Kipkaren River on Tuesday.
“We have no equipment but only local divers from Cheploch and some from Webuye and they have just been swimming through the waters to see if they can get him. We have done all we can do but it is vain since we lack rescue equipment,” added the deceased's aunt.
She further said that the waters are fast-flowing and the divers are unable to go with the water speed thus calling on the Kenya Navy to help.
According to Sulo, the deceased was with other boys along the river when he slid into the river.
