Kangundo Central MCA Moses Mitaa has disclosed that the standoff between the National Assembly and the Senate contributed to the late distribution of subsidized seeds to farmers.
Speaking on Tuesday in his ward, Mitaa said that the standoff affected the release of funds and subsequent processes intimating that the county government doesn't have enough money to buy the seeds.
"We are grateful to the governor because today we got to distribute seeds to farmers across the county although we took long to effect the distribution because of the deadlock between the Senate and National Assembly," said Mitaa.
Mitaa spoke after distributing green grams and bean seeds to over 400 farmers in his ward Mitaa urged residents to plant drought-resistant crops.
"Every farmer got two kilograms of green grams and two kilograms of beans for planting. The rains are here and we should take advantage and plant crops that can withstand drought," he said.
He warned residents against selling the seeds given to them and urged those who had already planted to keep the seeds and use them in future.
