Sources at the DCI indicate that Kibicho, who is technically the boss of the DCI team, arrived at the headquarters on Tuesday where he accused Ruto of making his work difficult.

The PS had been mentioned in the letter making rounds on social media as the convener of the meeting with Mt Kenya ministers where they allegedly discussed the elimination of DP.

“The PS was at the DCI headquarters last evening (Tuesday) from 7pm to record a statement on the past events. He was giving his version on the happenings and gave details of those who witnessed the same,” disclosed a top Government official aware of the development.

He continued; “He was not there to record a statement on the alleged La Mada Hotel meeting but to give details of what has transpired in the recent past with his boss.”

But instead of recording statements on the alleged assassination, Kibicho is said to have revisited his previous altercations with the DP.

The May altercations at JKIA is said to have predominantly featured. Last month, Dr Ruto is said to have confrontated Kibicho at the airport where they were both waiting for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While both denied, Kibicho is said to have reintroduced the incident and now wants Ruto investigated over the JKIA saga. The dramatic twist of events is likely to divide the cabinet.

Dr Ruto is yet to record a statement over alleged plot to kill him. Four ministers among them Peter Munya, Sicilly Kariuki, Joe Mucheru and James Macharia have been drawn to the quagmire.
