Reports according to Kenyan ambassador to China Ms Sarah Serem, Kenyans living in China will still continue with their stay, despite the Coronavirus outbreak.
Ambassador Serem noted that China had devised ways to handle the outbreak.
"I prefer the Chinese government to handle the coronavirus because they are in a better position to deal with it. I don't think Kenya is ready to deal with the virus. By bringing Kenyans back, it will only expose the rest of Kenyans to infection," Ms Serem said during an interview with Citizen TV.
Ms Serem urged Kenyans to exercise patience and avoid worries adding that, "there is no Kenyan who has been infected except the student who is suspected to have contacted the virus."
The student reportedly landed from China with coronavirus related symptoms and admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital. The results for test samples drawn from him will be out by tomorrow.
With the death toll already having risen to 132, World Health Organization (WHO) has though echoed China for its effort in fighting the disease.
"We appreciate the seriousness with which China is taking this outbreak, especially the commitment from top leadership, and the transparency they have demonstrated, including sharing data and genetic sequence of the virus," said Director-General for WHO Tedros Adhanom on Tuesday.
Kenya Airways has reported that it will not suspend its flights to China like the other Airways. KQ instead said that it was monitoring the situation before taking the next move.
