County Commander Stephen Matu on Tuesday said police officers are alert to deal with any cases of crime during the festive season.

Speaking to a local publication, Matu said police have identified areas in Nakuru Town infested by gang members, and are working tirelessly to neutralise any gang activity during the festivities.

“We have put all measures in place and we shall be on duty round the clock during the festive season to ensure no ugly incidents occur especially from any criminal gangs,” he said.

Among areas on police radar over infestation by gang members include Kisulisuli, Kivumbini, Lake View, Kaloleni and Bondeni Estates.

He said officers will patrol the town and rural areas, with others being posted in religious institutions and entertainment joints to prevent ugly incidences.

"We’ve ensured that all areas are covered and officers will be on patrol in town and rural areas both at night and during the day," added the police boss.

He also said Nakuru has been getting busier, as people flock in for the festivities and others leaving for other places.
