Five passengers sustained minor injuries after a bus they were travelling in was involved in a road accident in Keroka, Nyamira County on Monday.
Confirming the accident Keroka OCPD Walter Apondo said the driver of the Easy couch bus which was headed to Kisii from Nairobi lost control of the bus leading to the accident.
"The bus had 52 passengers on board when the accident occurred. It is by the Grace of God the majority of the passengers escaped unhurt. Only 5 passengers out of the 52 passengers were injured," said Apondo.
The OCPD said the injured passengers were students who were travelling back to school.
Apondo appealed to drivers to be cautious during this season a high number of passengers are travelling.
He assured that careless drivers won't be condoned whatsoever and appealed to matatu operators not to carry passengers in excess.
Officer in charge of health services at Keroka hospital Dr Charles Ogachi said the injured students who were rushed to Keroka hospital received treatment and discharged.
"We could not admit the injured students at the wars because they did not sustain serious injuries. They received treatment and allowed to travel to their respective school,s" he noted.
