Appearing before Machakos Senior Resident Magistrate Brenda Bartoo, the six denied charges against them.

The officers were in charge of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations that were concluded on Thursday.

They were taken in for questioning after an envelope containing answer sheets for the Social Studies paper had not been correctly covered as required.

According to Standard Digital, the six officers are; Joash Munyao (examination centre manager), Sharon Kamene (supervisor), and invigilators Elizabeth Nduku, Fredrick Makau, Catherine Nyamai, and Caroline Mwangi.

A seventh suspect, a police officer deployed to maintain peace and order at the station was released after questions on Thursday.

The mistake was discovered by the Examination Officer Manning Distribution Center, Bernard Nthiwa.

He alerted the authorities who arrested all the officers who were in-charged of Ivumbuni Primary School examination centre in Machakos County.

On Thursday, a source from the police in Machakos told Standard Digital that the officers were to be arraigned in court Friday, and if found to have done the mistake on purposes, they will be charged accordingly.

This year's national examinations have not recorded many exam irregularities as in previous years. The government warned anybody who could be found in any exam irregularity that they will face the law.
