Political analyst Tom Nduko has said that nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda's dalliance with the ODM party might be about the forthcoming general elections.
Kamanda of the Jubilee Party has since thrown his weight behind ODM's Kibra candidate Imran Okoth, resulting in fellow Jubilee members bashing him and calling for his resignation.
Speaking on Wednesday, Nduko observed that Kamanda might have detected that the ODM team could be the safer side for him ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta's retirement.
He said that the leader appears like trying to seal his future after the exit of Uhuru and observes ODM as the place to be as compared to the Deputy President William Ruto side.
"Kamanda is just trying to be on the right side now that Uhuru is not vying again. He is just trying to know his fate," he said on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation.
About the Kibra race, he warned Jubilee, which has fronted McDonald Mariga, against overlooking the ODM side, which is out to retain the seat previously held by the late Ken Okoth.
He observed that the ruling party might be having the financial muscles, but that should not mislead it into thinking that it can easily grab the seat which has for years been under ODM.
"ODM is not a pushover in Kibra. You can pump in money but you cannot change how the people are thinking," he added.
ODM has on the other hand fronted Imran, who will face off with among others, Amani National Congress (ANC) aspirant Eliud Owalo on the mini poll slated for November 7.
