Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM-K) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has waded into Kibra parliamentary by-election choosing his preferred candidate.
The former Vice President on Friday endorsed Khamisi Butichi who is vying on Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula's Ford-Kenya party.
Speaking at Wiper headquarters in Nairobi, Kalonzo said he will back Butichi due to his friendship with Wetang'ula which he said has lasted for decades, and as a give-back following Ford-Kenya's decision to back Wiper candidate in the Embakasi South by-election held early this year.
"Ford-Kenya and its leadership stood by our candidate in the Embakasi South by-election and we can't take it for granted. My brotherhood with Senator Wetangula too started in the 1980s when I joined politics," he said.
Wetang'ula, who paid Kalonzo courtesy call at his party offices, exuded confidence that Butichi will emerge victorious in the polls slated for November 7.
"Our candidate is the strongest and from the all gathered information I can assure my brother Kalonzo that this Kibra seat is no more a dream but we will carry the day," the Senator said.
Wetang'ula was accompanied by Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka and his Kwanza colleague Ferdinand Wanyonyi.
Butichi will face off with Imran Okoth of Raila Odinga's ODM, Eliud Owalo of Musalia Mudavadi-led ANC, Jubilee Party's McDonald Mariga among other 20 candidates.
Wiper did not produce candidate in the race but there were claims it toyed with the idea of fielding popular musician Prezzo.
In the 2017 general election, Butichi vied for Ikolomani parliamentary on ANC where he emerged second.
