Thirdway Alliance leader Dr Ekuru Aukot has strongly hit out at Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru over her opposition to the Punguza Mizigo initiative.
Speaking to members of the press, Dr Aukot claimed Waiguru was against the initiative because of it's call for accountability.
"...Anne Waiguru we know you are scared because this bill is awakening the demons, the spirits, and the ghosts of NYS. They are staring at you, and let me tell you, you can catwalk in Kirinyaga.... but I'm telling you the people of Kenya are coming after you, you must account for what happened in NYS," he said.
"We know you are worried about the integrity issues this bill is addressing which is why you are propagating lies," Aukot added.
His words come hardly a day after Waiguru unloaded on the initiative, and thanked the people of Kirinyaga county for rejecting it.
She urged Kenyans to wait for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report which is being compiled by committee members before it is submitted to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
Waiguru argued that the Aukot bill does not recognise women and is a plot to roll back gains made under devolution.
Among its provisions, Punguza Mizigo seeks to significantly reduce the number of constituencies, abolish the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and channel resources to the grass-root level.
