Kisii county commissioner Godfrey Kigochi has exposed men in Marani Sub-County following the increased defilement and rape cases being reported from the area.
According to the county security boss, men most of them married have abandoned their wives to rape young girls.
“It is shameful that married men in Marani Sub-County are chasing young girls for sex. The rate at which young girls are being defiled and raped by men is high and the vice need to stop immediately," said the commissioner.
He further protested that members of the community have been protecting the perpetrators thus hindering legal processes adding that men who have attained marriage age should do so.
The commissioner appealed to parents to the victims not to accept bribes from the suspects to weaken the legal procedures.
"We have courts to deal with rape suspects. I urge the public to be at the front line to ensure no minor is being defiled. Any man caught raping a minor should be sent to jail," he added.
Kigochi challenged local chiefs to be on high alert and arrest men dishing out money to young girls with an intention of defiling them.
The security boss was speaking on Tuesday when he addressed a public baraza at Kegogi.
