In a statement on Monday, Mutua accused Deputy President William Ruto, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Garissa MP Aden Duale of plotting to eliminate him.

The second term governor said that the three had threatened him on two different occasions at State House, Nairobi.

“I am writing to bring to your attention that the above named persons have on two different occasions threatened me with unspecified consequences because of my statements on national issues.”

Senator Murkomen has since dismissed the claims saying that those are "Cobra Squad" theatrics arguing that nobody is interested in Mutua.

However, according to Raila Junior, it's possible that the governor was threatened, adding that Mutua should expose the characters threatening him.

"If you believe that both @HonMoses_Kuria and @RabbitTheKing were threatened with assassination for their rubbish, then surely there is credence to @DrAlfredMutua claim of threats from Tangatanga hit squad. Toboa yote governor," he said.

The governor claimed that he informed Raila Odinga and four other government officials over the State House incident. He recorded a statement at Kilimani Police station.

Mutua is a proponent of Building Bridges Initiative report and has recently been going badly against Deputy President William Ruto ahead of 2022 polls.
