Deputy President William Ruto has reiterated that he is the right candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 amid alleged fallout with his boss.
Speaking during his tour in Taita Taveta on Friday, Ruto said that the Kenyatta and Odinga families have had the privilege to lead this nation and now it is the turn of the hustler nation.
He affirmed that the President Kenyatta's succession politics will be a contest between hustlers versus dynasties.
“The Kenyatta and Odinga families have been in power in the past and it is now time for a hustler like me to lead this country,” he said.
The second in command said that he has been fought by leaders allied to both Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga but he is strong to forge on amid all these adversities. Ruto urged the leaders from the region to back his presidential bid for the sake of development.
“I have been fought left and right but this will not distract me from seeking the presidency,” he added.
Ruto has been firing attacks after attacks at Raila since the handshake. He has publicly opposed the tours to popularize the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
According to Ruto the report was already made public and the rest is a waste of money. He has also been accusing Raila of hijacking the entire process for what he terms as his selfish interest.
