Incoming Bomet Governor Dr Hillary Barchok has hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s effort in the fight against cancer.
Speaking when he took the oath of office, Barchok said President Kenyatta, who is completing his second and final term in office, has proven that he has the goodwill of Kenyans at heart.
Barchok, who takes over from former governor the late Joyce Laboso, thanked the president for equipping Longisa Referral hospital ahead of its launch in September.
“We cannot sit back and talk about cancer anymore. We appreciate the commitment H.E the President made, to see that chemotherapy and radiotherapy equipment at Longisa Referral Hospital are operationalised by September. I will corporate with governmentt to see that it is done,” he said.
The newly sworn in governor noted that the late Laboso was his greatest friend, and a mentor in life, adding that he will support the family during this moment of trial.
“I have lost a dear friend, mentor and super boss with the passing on of Dr Joyce Laboso. To the Laboso and Abonyo families, you will be in my prayers for a long time to come,” he added.
