South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osor has petitioned the national government to consider sending more funds to counties to help in boosting provision of health services.
Osoro argued that the rate at which people are dying of cancer is high and therefore, there is a need for the government to set up cancer centres at the county level.
"The national government should increase its funding to the counties for cancer centres to be set up so that people who are unable to travel to Nairobi and abroad can be screened for cancer at the public health centres," he said on Sunday at St. Theresa's Manga Parish in Kitutu Chache North.
The youthful legislator who is a member of the Deputy President William Ruto's tanga tanga movement reiterated the need for leaders to join hands together in the fight against cancer.
"As leaders, it is high time we shun politics based on political parties and focus on helping our people. Cancer has become a killer disease, therefore, leaders need to find solutions for lives to be saved," said Osoro.
He challenged Nyamira and Kisii residents to visit health centres to be screened for cancer.
