The ODM deputy party leader was accompanied by the party's by-election aspirant Imran Okoth, MPs Timothy Wetangula and George Aladwa among others.

ODM party is facing stiff competition from Jubilee's McDonald Mariga, Eliud Owalo of Amani National Congress, Eng Ramadhan Khamisi of Ford Kenya among others.

Oparanya's rallies come just a day to Mr Raila Odinga's anticipated rally on Sunday, the first since IEBC declared the seat vacant following the death of Ken Okoth.

"The Luhya Community in Kibra today endorsed the candidature of Bernard Otieno Okoth (Imran)," ODM tweeted.

"Deputy Party Leader @GovWOparanya led top officials and legislators from the community in a series of meetings with the Abaluhya people who said they are solidly in ODM and behind Imran."

Luhya community votes will play a major role given that Mariga and Butichi come from the tribe. Owalo's party leader Musalia Mudavadi is also a Luhya.

Deputy President William Ruto has vowed to defeat ODM in the race. The DP has been hosting delegations from Kibra constituency at his Karen home in support of Mariga.

IEBC has scheduled  November 7th as the day for the battle. Mr Odinga is also expected to return to the constituency on November 3rd, four days to polls.
