Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has reiterated the need to embrace manufacturing terming it as key in addressing unemployment among the youth.
Speaking on Tuesday during the official opening of Simba Cement Factory at Salgaa in Rongai sub-county by President Uhuru Kenyatta, the county boss said manufacturing has continued to create more job opportunities for youths in the county and nation at large.
Kinyanjui revealed that already the Simba Cement Factory has created at least 700 jobs directly and over 1,000 trucks will be operating from the facility on a daily basis.
With more factories coming up at Salgaa trading centre, the governor said this has seen the transformation of the centre from a place known for accidents to an industrial hub.
“Manufacturing is the way to go and we are very grateful for the coming up of more factories in this area. This means our youths will get jobs,” said Kinyanjui.
There are over eight other industries that have come up on the Salgaa stretch.
