Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has lashed out at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Communication Director Philip Etale for claiming she has re-joined the opposition outfit.
Speaking to members of the press on Tuesday, the outspoken legislator described Mr Etale as a busybody for sending out a series of tweets claiming that she had ditched Deputy President William Ruto's team..
Jumwa said she had not rejoined ODM as had been alleged by Etale.
"Ralia came, but I did not know he was coming, so I said hi. These are just stories from Etale, he's a busybody. (Mzee amekuja, but sikuwa najua kwanza anakuja, so nikamsalimia Hizi ni story za Etale, he's a busybody),"she said.
Pictures of Jumwa with veteran opposition leader triggered a firestorm on social media platforms.
The photos fueled speculation that she had ditched the deputy president.
Etale later deleted the tweets after Jumwa rebuffed claims that she had rejoined ODM.
She was later pictured in a meeting with Jubilee candidate in the Kibra by-election former Harambee Stars forward McDonald Mariga.
The renegade ODM legislator broke ranks with her party's top brass, openly declaring support for DP Ruto's presidential ambitions for 2022.
There have been attempts to subject her to disciplinary action over her support for Ruto, attempts that she survived.
ODM had sought to have her stripped of the membership of the party to force a by-election in Malindi but that attempt fell flat.
