Ainabkoi Member of parliament William Chepkut now wants Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago to run for senatorial seat once he finishes his term in office.
Speaking during the launch of a water project in Ng’atit, Ainabkoi constituency Chepkut said Mandago is too young to retire and that the Country and County still needs his services.
"I want to call on our abled governor Jackson Mandago to rethink his position and vie for Uasin Gishu senatorial post come 2022 so that he may continue serving the electorates. The people of Ainabkoi have asked me to tell you to go for the seat when your term comes to an end," said the Ainabkoi member of parliament.
"Once governor Mandago becomes the senator he will use his experience in running a county government to make laws that will strengthen devolution," he added.
This comes after a section of locals called for the governor to contest for the senatorial position once his term as governor comes to an end in 2022 to continue serving residents due to his development record.
Uasin Gishu senatorial seat is currently held by Margaret Kamar who is said to be eyeing the gubernatorial seat in 2022 but has not publicly declared his interest.
