Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has promised to continue working with ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga until President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his second term in office.
Speaking at Achego Girls School in Muhoroni, Kisumu County when he presided over fundraising, Matiang’i praised the handshake between Raila and President Uhuru saying that it has transformed Kenya in different ways including the creation of a peaceful society to spur economic growth.
The Super Minister also reiterated that he is a protégé of the Africa Union Special Envoy, in what pundits perceive as a move to position himself for a bigger office after the end of Uhuru’s tenure.
The CS began his speech by delivering the greeting from the ODM leader before he proceeded to the main theme of the day. During the event, he presented the institution with Sh600,000, Sh1 million from Raila and Sh2 million from Uhuru. He went on to reveal the renewed relationship with Raila after the handshake.
“Raila recently said I am his son. I will walk close to him as we navigate ways to help our people. I will go the direction he shows me,” said Matiang’i.
Matiang’i noted that the unity that the Gusii, Kuria and Luo have exhibited in the recent past is good news for them as they fight to have a share of the national cake in the near future.
