Political analyst Dennis Anyonka has poured cold water on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga's order regarding dredging at the Likoni channel.
Raila, while on a visit of the Likoni Ferry channel where a woman and her daughter plunged into the Indian Ocean last Sunday, ordered dredging works at the area to stop, so as to facilitate the recovery mission.
Speaking on Monday, Anyonka said Raila is in no position to issue such orders, though he doubles up as the African Union Infrastructure Development chief.
He said Raila's roles do not include ordering independent states, but can only advise the government, or any other country, on how to handle such situations.
"Raila doesn't have any power or ability to issue orders in Kenya and cannot control government affairs. He doesn't have any right, actually, he was just speaking (Raila hana nguvu wala uwezo wowote wa kupeana amri katika Kenya na hawezi toa control kwa mambo ya serikali. Hana haki yoyote, hata hakuna haki pale alikuwa anasema tu)," he said.
"Raila has been given an opportunity as an elder who fought for the Kenyan society, that was a slip of the tongue and it was very unfortunate (Raila amepewa nafasi kama mzee aliyepigania jumuia ya Kenya lakini its a slip of the tongue and it was very unfortunate)," he added.
He made the remarks during an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha, Monday morning.
