In what could be a strategy to quell internal rebellion at his North Rift backyard, Deputy President William Ruto will on Friday visit the region for the third time within a month.
Dr Ruto was at Eldoret Polytechnic graduation a fortnight ago. He also officiated opening of County Assembly games in Eldoret a month ago.
The DP has been facing criticism from a section of lawmakers and residents, with the maize market being one of the controversial matters.
On Friday, Dr Ruto will attend the 9th graduation of Rift Valley Technical Training College in Eldoret. He will be received by North Rift leaders.
"Excited to be at Rift Valley Technical Training Institute garage and see this 1970 VW pickup made by students(TVET in practice).
"They will be holding their 9th graduation ceremony tomorrow presided over by H. E the Deputy President William Ruto," said Essy Okenyuri, a secretary at Harambee House Annex.
Moiben MP Silas Tiren, Alfred Keter of Nandi Hills and Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny have been leading onslaught against the DP in recent past.
On Wednesday, Keter defied the order by Deputy President to be part of agents of Jubilee candidate in Kibra McDonald Mariga.
When he visited two weeks ago, Dr Ruto thrilled the crowd when he gave Sh1 million to students for end year part. He spoke against drug abuse.
“Because I am here, I will do small end of year party for you guys, but that end of year party will only happen if everybody has done their homework,” said the DP jovially.
“For the end of year party, I have agreed I will give Sh1 million to the principal to organise a party for you guys just to know that the hustler was around. It will only be done under one condition that you guys must pull up your socks and must tighten your belts and focus on how to take Kenya forward beginning with yourself,” he added.
