In 1990s, the KANU goverment under retired President Daniel Moi was often accused of contributing huge sums of money to churches despite deplorable development in rural Kenya.

At that time, Raila recalled on Saturday, opposition leaders would sing renditions of Malika's song, criticising the regime of neglecting her constitutional obligations.

"Wanakanu ni wajinga ni werevu hawana. Ukiona ukilewa usidhani ni tajiri. Hiyo ni mali ya umma wameiba kutoka kwenu. Wape wape hiyo pombe yao, wakitapika wakitapika hiyo ni shauri yao," sang Mr Odinga.

(KANU people are stupid. When you see them drunk, don't think they are rich. They are wasting taxpayers money. Let them drink it's none of our concern).

The opposition leader seemingly hit at Deputy President William Ruto, who is synonymous with huge fundraising donations. The DP was in KANU during 1990s.

Raila insisted that his reconciliation with President Uhuru Kenyatta is aiming at promoting peace and stability in Kenya, adding that BBI report will be implemented.

"After the last general election, I reconciled with President Kenyatta and we declared that we would not allow anyone to die in this country due to politics or elections. It is very sad that the deceased was shot dead in his home," he said.

Present at the burial of Ngumbao Jola, a man who was killed during ODM meeting, were Governors Hassan Joho and Amason Kingi among other coastal leaders.

The BBI report, Odinga said, will address land injustices at the coastal region, adding that those against the initiative are enemies of progress.
