During his 2017 campaigns, Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot repeatedly accused the media of giving him a blackout and blindly focusing on Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
He was taken as a man out for relevance and a weak contestant unable to match the powers of the two, who are President and former premier respectively, in the presidential race.
He repeatedly lamented, accusing the media of shunning him and insisting that he was out to salvage the nation and needed coverage as well.
"Calling me a nonstarter is an oxymoron – as long as my decision creates an impact, you cannot call me a nonstarter," said Aukot in one instance, reports the Standard.
However, two years down the line, the latter who is now pushing for a referendum under his Punguza Mizigo initiative is now the man all the eyes are on and is always on the front pages.
So busy is he that its not only almost impossible to find him on phone, but also to see him in person, with his phone being 'perpetually busy'.
His Secretary General Frederick Okango says that his boss is no longer available. He says that he now speaks on his behalf.
“Dr Aukot is busy and not available but I can address anything about him,” he told the Standard on Saturday.
