Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has said that the problem with elections in this nation is not division but manipulation of election outcomes.
Speaking during an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Senator Kilonzo said that the nation has been affected in past because some leaders take advantage of the electoral bodies to manipulate the election.
He took a swipe at former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba whom he accused of manipulating the results of the 2017 General elections.
He wondered why Chiloba decided to bring his own figures when they had agreed that the results will be posted through electronic means.
The Senator argued that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is a good thing because it seeks to resolve such issues in government.
He appealed to all leaders from different factions to reconsider backing the report for a better and united Kenya.
"The problem with Kenya is not divisive elections but manipulative elections," he said, as quoted by an NTV tweet.
On the issue of the third tier government, Mutula Jnr said that it is one of the biggest jokes of his time.
He argued that the county bosses could be plotting to create job opportunities for them when they complete their second and final term in power.
The senator said that the government will strain funding this system of governance.
