The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) will not propose anything out of the obvious and different from what is already being said, former Makadara lawmaker Benson Mutura has said.
Speaking on Saturday, Mutura said that Kenyans should expect an expanded executive and the introduction of a Premier seat as has been hinted by ODM boss Raila Odinga.
He added that chances are high that Raila, having founded the BBI taskforce alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta, must have had his demands factored in the final report.
Consequently, he opined that Kenyans should prepare for the proposal of the third tier of government since the former Prime Minister has already indicated that he would love that.
"Raila has said that he wants the introduction of a prime ministerial position, that's a guarantee. He has also proposed regional governments, that too will be there (Raila amesema Prime Minister itawekwa pale, hiyo ni guarantee. Pia alisema anataka regional governments, hiyo pia itakuwa)," he said.
He spoke on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show, also attended by Makadara MP George Aladwa and political analysts Brian Weke and Ruth Amboko.
Mutura claimed that the regional government's proposal was a plot to lure second-term governors, on grounds that they will be picked to run the governments, which has worked.
The former lawmaker also predicted a situation where the taskforce members will request to be retained to preside over the realization of their proposals.
"You will hear the committee requesting to remain at work to help implement the report (Hiyo kamati ya BBI utaskia wanaomba kazi eti waendelee wafanikishe hii ripoti)," he added.
