A nominated Member of Uasin Gishu County Assembly Samora Machel has dismissed claims that he has been picked as a deputy governor to Jonathan Bii who is said to be eyeing the gubernatorial seat in 2022.
This follows the claims that have been spreading on various social media platforms.
In one of the posts, the nominated MCA is claimed to have been identified as a potential deputy governor to Bii, in a plot that seeks to lock the non-Kalenjin votes out of billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotich Buzeki's reach.
Buzeki enjoyed massive support from non-Kalenjins during the 2017 polls.
However, in a post on his Facebook page, Samora who represents the ethnic minority in the assembly termed the claims as untrue noting that he has not made any such decision.
"I would like to condemn the ongoing news posted on social media about I to deputizing Arap Bii and also giving him a car to trend in. It is so bad and against the law to use someone's name without seeking his or her consent," noted the youthful MCA.
"I still stand firm that I have not made any decision am still serving my people of Uasin Gishu county moreso Kimumu ward. May the people spreading the propaganda ( PRAKOPANDA )to allow me to serve my people when that time comes I shall make my personal decision," he added.
Samora who unsuccessfully vied for the Kimumu MCA post in 2017 further insisted that he is still supporting governor Jackson Mandago and "I will continue to make sure he leaves a legacy in Uasin Gishu county in his last term."
It has been claimed that Bii who unsuccessfully vied for the Soy Parliamentary seat on a Kanu ticket in 2017 was being groomed to take over from Mandago.
